C'est exactement le genre de musique qui, après des mois de pause, me motive enfin à sortir ma guitare du placard et à commencer à jouer.Mais il est probable que cela ne sonnera pas aussi bien chez moi que chez Hervé Amiot, un guitariste français talentueux qui nous offre un fabuleux arrangement instrumental avec son œuvre "Why So", tout juste sortie hier. Il s'agit d'un morceau caractérisé par des sons extrêmement sensibles et un jeu extrêmement précis.
This is exactly the kind of music that, after months of hiatus, finally motivates me to get my guitar out of the closet and start playing. But it probably won't sound as good with me as it does with Hervé Amiot, a talented French guitarist who offers us a fabulous instrumental arrangement with his work "Why So", just released yesterday. It's a piece characterized by sensitive sounds and extremely precise playing.

Hervé Amiot est un guitariste et compositeur originaire d’un petit village en France et un représentant acharné du fingerpicking, un style originaire des Etats-Unis importé en France par le regretté Marcel Dadi. Perfectionnant sa guitare au cours des vingt dernières années avec des notes de folk, de jazz et de bluegrass, son fingerpicking donne l’impression que la basse, la guitare rythmique et la voix se sont donné rendez-vous sur un seul et même instrument. Ses compositions mélodiques créent d’inoubliables événements, invitant le public à plonger dans son univers musical. Après un EP et un sensible premier album, Hervé continue de conforter sa position comme une voix forte dans le monde déjà bien rempli de la guitare folk.

Hervé Amiot is a guitarist and composer from a tiny town in France and one of the leading lights of a fingerpicking technique brought to the country by the late Marcel Dadi. Mastering the guitar over the past twenty years and influenced by notes of folk, jazz, and bluegrass, his fingerpicking means he plays the melody, bass and chords at once, creating the effect of multiple instruments playing together. His melodic compositions create mesmerizing events making even large audiences feel like they have slipped inside his musical universe. Hervé Amiot est un guitariste et compositeur franc-comtois. Alors qu’il n’est encore qu’un adolescent ayant récemment débuté la guitare et que YouTube n’en est qu’à ses balbutiements, il tombe sur une vidéo et s’émerveille devant le génie et la sensibilité de celui qui constituera bientôt sa plus grande source d’inspiration : Tommy Emmanuel. Au cours de ses vingt années de guitare, il se perfectionne ainsi dans l’art du fingerpicking, un style instrumental solo bien particulier qui s’attache à tout jouer en même temps : le rythme, la basse, les accords et la mélodie.
Après quelques années de voyages au cours desquels il compose fertilement, Hervé sort d'abord un EP avant de produire son premier album instrumental en 2025, intitulé “Slow Life”.
Hervé Amiot is a guitarist and composer from a tiny town in the Franche-Comté region of France. When he was a young teen starting to strum the guitar strings, YouTube was still in its infancy. While on one of his searches, he came across a video and marveled at the genius of Tommy Emmanuel. During the next twenty years, Hervé perfected the art of fingerpicking, a distinctive solo instrumental style that focuses on playing everything at once: rhythm, bass, chords and melody.
After a few years on the road, during which he composed ferociously, Hervé released a first EP before producing his first instrumental album “Slow Life” in 2025.
